Air Force The Portuguese Air Force (FAP) is an integral part of the national forces system and its mission is to cooperate, in an integrated way, in the military defense of the Republic, through air operations, and in the air defense of the national space. It is also up to him to fulfill missions in the framework of international commitments. The FAP was created on July 1, 1952, constituting itself as an independent branch, in parallel with the Navy and Army, integrating the aviation incorporated in those branches. Força Aérea A Força Aérea Portuguesa (FAP) é parte integrante do sistema de forças nacional e tem por missão cooperar, de forma integrada, na defesa militar da República, através da realização de operações aéreas, e na defesa aérea do espaço nacional. Compete-lhe, ainda, satisfazer missões no âmbito dos compromissos internacionais. A FAP foi criada em 1 de julho de 1952, constituindo-se como ramo independente, em paralelo com a Marinha e Exército, integrando as aviações incorporadas naqueles ramos. São objetivos e visão da FAP: gerar poder aéreo e uma capacidade de resposta eficaz; colocar a segurança como fator crítico da missão; reconhecer o valor das pessoas e a qualidade dos meios; ser uma organização ágil, flexível e inovadora com uma cultura de serviço, empenhada no cumprimento da missão; ter uma força coesa, motivada e disciplinada, sentido de pertença, credibilidade e relevância; e ser detentora de prestígio nacional.
