Composite materials are formed by the stacking of several sheets of high mechanical performance fibrous materials. These high performance materials were designed to absorb the energy generated by the projectile impact, and to be durable and resistant to both high and low speed impact.<br><br>
For these advanced composite structure's development the techniques used are vacuum infusion and hot compression molding. These technologies allow, on one hand, the reproducibility of the developed structures and on the other hand the reduction of the probability of imperfections.<br><br>
These structures will be used in the design of the helmet, the vest's ballistic protection and the knee and elbow pads' impact protection.

		Os materiais compósitos são constituídos pelo empilhamento de várias lâminas de materiais fibrosos de alta performance mecânica. Estas estruturas de alta performance mecânica foram projetadas para absorverem a energia proveniente do impacto do projétil, serem duráveis e resistentes ao impacto a alta e baixa velocidade. <br/><br/>
		Para o desenvolvimento destas estruturas compósitas avançadas são utilizadas as técnicas de infusão por vácuo e moldação por compressão a quentes. Estas tecnologias permitem por um lado, manter a reprodutibilidade das estruturas desenvolvidas e por outro lado, diminuir a probabilidade de imperfeições na sua conceção.<br/><br/>
		Estas estruturas serão utilizadas na conceção do capacete na proteção balística do colete e na proteção ao impacto das joelheiras e cotoveleiras.
