They may provide protection against shrapnel or injury, or violent individuals, or simply to maintain the user's comfort while leaning on elbows or knees for a prolonged ammount of time. Knee and elbow pads need to be comfortable and durable while not compromising the user's protection.This product's development was divided into two separate areas: mechanical performace (protection) and comfort. Its design will be based on biomimetics concepts. As an example, the turtle's shell possesses a concave shape with high resistance; another example of adaptability and flexibility is the Hairy Armadillo, a mammal of the Cingulata order and the Dasypodidae family known for having flexible and adaptable "armour" which covers its body, adjusting to its needs in terms of movement.
